Lion's Tailing

The removal of interior limbs, and in this case ALL interior limbs, has consequences.  When side limbs are removed then the mechanism for energy dispersion and growth is removed from a particular area of a tree.  These limbs will only have "primary" energy which promotes elongation. The energy for "secondary" growth, or "girth" is bypassed. In other words these limbs will grow longer, but not stronger.

Here we see the trees response to "Lion's Tailing"   "Sucker Sprouts"  this is an obvious sign of stress.  The tree is working hard to undo the terrible mistaken pruning that someone thought was good idea.

If a picture is worth a thousand words then this video should be a very enlightening demonstration as to how we operate on site.
