With some plants you can get away with some pretty extreme cutting.
These Holly bushes were cut back 50% and this is the before picture.
Very resilient plants can be maintained even after being neglected for too long.
This is about 3 months later. As you can see they came back very well and can actually use further pruning to be more aesthetically pleasing.
